Project
One of the 17 sustainable development goal adopted by all United Nations Member States is to is to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. In line with such general goal, in 1999, the world health organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) launched jointly the initiative “VISION 2020: The right to Sight” with the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness by 2020
The developments proposed as part of The VEMoS project directly address these European and global needs. The virtual eye model embedded in the VEMoS software will be matured and validated clinically with real data. By the end of the project, the enhanced VEMoS software will allow doctors and their patients in the clinical decision-making processes. The improved prediction ability of the VEMoS software ought to decrease adverse effect of refractive surgery and improve outcome satisfaction.
