The CHUC aims to provide health care of high quality and differentiation, in a context of training, teaching, research, scientific knowledge and innovation, being a national and international reference in areas considered as Poles of excellence.
The CHUC is an open organization formed by a network of hospital units, services and technologies structured and integrated to provide a humanized, complete, close, reliable and transparent service to society. It is a center distinguished by the quality of care, research capacity, innovation and teaching and the positive impact on the community, ensuring global efficiency and sustainability in the medium and long term.
CHUC will participate in clinical validation of the VEMoS project, which will be focused primarily on the multi-center large scale clinical trial to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the VEMoS software. CHUC will ensure correct and smooth completion of the objectives and milestones and will facilitate communication with other members of the consortium at any time.

Dr. Joaquim Neto Murta, Clinical manager
Professor Murta was Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and is Director of Service of Ophthalmology, at the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra (CHUC). He has been responsible for the supervision of numerous masters and PhD thesis in ophthalmology, and he has been principal researcher of national and international research projects. Prof. Murta is a member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer of national and international scientific journals. He is also responsible and national representative of numerous national and foreign agencies. He has authored numerous publications in national and international scientific journals and participated in numerous clinical trials and clinical studies. Prof. Murta is also a guest lecturer at McGill University – Montreal (Canada).
Dr. Andreia Rosa, Clinical investigator
Professor Andreia Martins Rosa received her medical degree from Coimbra University in 2003. She became a specialist in Ophthalmology in 2010 and received her PhD in 2017. She is an invited Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra University. Prof Andreia participated / participates in several clinical trials and clinical studies, such as the ESCRS (European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) Endophthalmitis study, the ESCRS PREMED study and the NECSUS study – Neuroadaptation after Cataract and Refractive Surgery, which won the 2016 edition of the ESCRS Clinical Research Awards. Her research interests include cataract, corneal and refractive surgery and she has published several scientific papers, one of which won the Obstbaum Award in 2017, for the best clinical paper published at the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in that year”.
Dr. Jorge Henriques, Clinical investigator
Dr. Jorge Henriques graduated in Medicine from the University of Coimbra in 2005. He completed his MSc in 2010 from the same University and became a specialist in Ophthalmology in 2011 at the University Hospital of Coimbra. He is also a guest assistant in Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Dr. Jorge participated/participates in several clinical trials and clinical studies and is conducting his PhD thesis at the University of Coimbra entitled “Prevision”, a clinical study of visual simulation, analysis of quality of vision and multifocality. His main interests in ophthalmology include cataract, refractive and anterior segment surgery and clinical research.
